Leah Crocetto

SOPRANO

Described by The New York Times as possessing an “agile coloratura technique and a feeling for the Italianate style… with warmth, full penetrating sound and tenderness,” American soprano Leah Crocetto continues to astonish audiences with her moving portrayals of opera’s greatest heroines.

An internationally acclaimed interpreter of Verdi, Ms. Crocetto’s portrayal of Aida was raved by the Sydney Morning Herald as “a voice of enveloping power and warmth” and by Theatre Travels saying, “She is beautiful and effervescent in this role. Her rendition of “O, Patria mia” was soul-stirringly good.” She has performed Aida with the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera, Seattle Opera, Opera Australia, Fondazione Petruzzelli, and Oper I’m Steinbruch. Additionally, she has sung Leonora in Il trovatore with Seattle Opera, Fondazione Arena di Verona, Opéra National de Bordeaux, Opera Australia, North Carolina Opera, and Toledo Opera; Desdemona in Otello with Washington National Opera, English National Opera, Opéra National de Bordeaux, Oper Frankfurt, Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo, and Teatro La Fenice; Odabella in Attila with Fondazione Petruzzelli; Elisabetta in Don Carlo with Washington National Opera and Opera Philadelphia; Alice Ford in Falstaff with Oper Frankfurt; Luisa in Luisa Miller with San Francisco Opera and Israeli Opera; and Elvira in Ernani with North Carolina Opera.  She has also been acclaimed for her performances of Verdi’s Messa da Requiem worldwide, including performances with Austin Opera, Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, San Diego Symphony, Opera Philadelphia, San Francisco Opera, and the Festival Castell de Peralada,

Her other recent credits include Liù in Turandot with The Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Margherita in Mefistofele in concert with Opera Australia, her role debut as Norma with North Carolina Opera, Tosca with Pittsburgh Opera and the Northern Lights Music Festival, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni with Santa Fe Opera, Madame Lidoine in Dialogues des Carmélites with Washington National Opera, Mimì in La bohème with Pittsburgh Opera, Eleonora in L’assedio di Calais with the Glimmerglass Festival, the title role in Semiramide with Opéra National de Bordeaux, Anna Erisso in Maometto II with Canadian Opera Company and Santa Fe Opera, Lisa in Cyrano de Bergerac with San Francisco Opera,  and Female Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia with Houston Grand Opera.

On the concert stage, Leah sang performances of Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, which was recorded and released by Deutsche Grammophon. She starred in Citizens of Song’s “Christmas From Afar” event featuring over 25 acts and up to 400 performers from around the world. She was the Featured Artist in Merola Opera Program’s “Un Gala in Maschera” virtual benefit concert honoring Sheri Greenawald. Additionally, she performed at The Croswell in Adrian, Michigan, to celebrate the return of live performances, and sang a recital with her longtime collaborator, pianist Mark Markham, at the Lexington Bach Festival.

Ms. Crocetto has also led multiple teaching residencies, including at the University of Texas – Austin, Siena Heights University, Potomac Vocal Institute, and the Washington National Opera. In recital, she has appeared at the Butler School of Music in Austin, Texas, where she is currently on faculty as a Lecturer in Vocal Arts. Leah also toured with her newly founded duo Momenti, featuring pianist Ronny Michael Greenberg for their first concerts in San Francisco, Napa, and her native Adrian, Michigan. Aiming to create unique and empowering music, performing genre-less, yet extensive, rich, and innovative repertoire, they released their first EP in February 2023.
